I saw the representative of Messrs. Lewis and Lewis yesterday. The correspondence referred to is almost certainly 25120/95 H. Kong. It consists of Messrs. Kynoch's letter of 9/11/1898; our reply, which was in the printed form 1/4; and their reply of 21 Nov. 1898, which was attacked by that firm.
No correspondence of the dates specially referred to is entered in the Daily Register for 1898, those dates being 14th & 18th October, 1898. The K/4 of which I send on a copy is the 18. There may have been a third which was in use; if so, no copy of it remains. We should not keep it.
